Robert P. Hartwig, Ph.D., CPCU, Senior Vice President & Chief Economist, testified in front of The House Financial Services Subcommittee on April 10, 2003.
The hearing focused on “Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises". Dr. Hartwig's testimony detailed the overall economic performance of the property/casualty insurance industry, the industry’s rate of return and contrasted that performance to other industries. Dr. Hartwig also provided an analysis of the impact of the insurance regulatory environment on the ability of the property/casualty insurance industry to attract and retain capital and earn an adequate rate of return.
